Heat Waves

This past Saturday, I went into NYC to visit with Jonathan and Alison. Well, Jonathan lives one stop over on the train so I got on the train and he randomly showed up next to me. We rode in together and met Alison at TEK serve. She was getting upgrades on her computer in preparation for RAM intensive designing at Harvard this fall. We hung out for a little bit, met up with Alison's study abroad friend named Cary, and bid farewell to Jonathan because he was going to see Animal Collective in Prospect Park with his brothers.

Alison, Cary, and I ended up going to Shake Shack. I was excited to finally go. The twittersphere was all a twitter with how great it was....in any case, it lived up to expectations. We sat in the park under the stringed lights and talked alot about the future and how scary it seemed.

I ended up sleeping at alison's sisters house on a leather couch. It was hot hot hot, but I wanted to go home to Alex so I woke up early in the morning to catch the train back and brought him McDonald's hash browns. He likes them very much. :)

Since the, I've mostly been gearing up to go. I went through all my clothes and tried to eliminate possessions. I got about a box out of it but it's still too much stuff. I am putting that on hold till I work up the energy to rid myself of even more stuff. It's been really hot lately and its driving me crazy...

Today, I am going to meet up with Alex and we will go buy me a much needed hard shell guitar case and a new strap. (Exciting!) God, I hope they let me take my guitar as a carry on.

Haunted Houses

The summer is pretty much gone. I spent most of it teaching slightly disorganized math lessons at a learning center in New Haven during the weekdays and waitressing at a little diner on Saturday nights. It went by really quickly. I am going to miss the comfort of coming home to Alex every day.

After a bit of experimentation, I've figured out that I am big fan of security...which is what makes my approaching move to Denmark out of my comfort zone. My mind is sort of a flutter with the preparations necessary to the move. I had my cell turned off and got a google voice account. I will be shipping a small box to Denmark, getting rid of extra clothes, and sending a few things home to Texas.

All the while, I am trying to help Alex find an engineering job and an apartment somewhere on the west coast or here in Connecticut. Things for housing are still up in the air, but we are sorting it out.

In fact, a lot of stuff is up in the air. I don't want to leave my family or my boyfriend, whom I love. It makes me worried and anxious and sort of scared. I know there is excitement mixed in somewhere.

I am going to try to start documenting more often in photos and posts.

P.S. I watched a scary movie about a haunted house in Connecticut and I live in a big old house in Connecticut. I officially have the jeepers.
